Cicero Selected to Renovate Illinois' Top-rated Public Charter School

Updated: Oct 7, 2022

PLAINFIELD, IL, AUGUST 24, 2022 -- Chicago Math and Science Academy (CMSA) has selected Cicero Construction Group for renovation of the school's mezzanine area including the addition of three new resource rooms, offices, and an elevator, among other structural upgrades to create a more positive, engaged learning environment. The project is expected to be completed by early December.

Located in Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood, CMSA is a public charter school authorized by Chicago Public Schools serving 600 students from 6-12th grade. For three years in a row, U.S. News & World Report has ranked CMSA as the #1 public charter high school in Illinois. CMSA provides students with an innovative education, rich in math, science and technology, to meet the challenges of a competitive global workforce.

As General Contractor, Cicero Construction Group's responsibilities include program and project planning, procurement, and contracting support; schedule development and control; management of design; cost estimating; management of construction, and project closeout. Cicero Construction Group is currently demolishing a 2100-square-foot storage area where the offices will be built.

Because CMSA will remain open and functioning while the renovation is being performed, safety is a paramount concern. Cicero Construction Group has built a temporary barrier to separate the connecting school hallway from construction activities, and is coordinating with CMSA to ensure the safe delivery of construction materials and the scheduling of work while the school is unoccupied.
